Yes, it can! Because drinking water triggers several effects that help you lose weight:

You will consume fewer calories if you drink water before you eat.

According to studies, drinking a large glass of water before meals reduces the average calorie intake by 13%.

You save liquid calories if you replace juice and soft drinks with water.

The nasty thing is that sugary drinks stimulate insulin levels even faster than carbohydrates in solid meals, and they also cause higher insulin spikes.

How much should I drink a day?

Your body loses around 2.5 litres per day through metabolic processes.

So this is the minimum that you have to “refuel” every day.

But it is not enough for optimal fat loss.

Because compensating for a deficiency does not mean being optimally cared for.

After all, you don’t always drive your car with an almost empty tank.

For an optimal water supply when losing weight, I recommend drinking 3 to 4 litres of water per day.

On training days or in midsummer you should, of course, drink more to compensate for the fluid loss.

Can I drink too much water?

Health organizations do not give recommendations for the maximum amount of water you drink because “water poisoning” is simply extremely unlikely.

You would have to drink 6 litres or more in a short amount of time.

3 to 4 litres per day, correspondingly more on training days, is the perfect amount.

Every further litre brings you no more advantages.

My conclusion

Drinking enough water every day is one of the easiest and most effective ways to lose weight.
